  • Sunday Schools
Every Sunday the children are invited to begin the worship service in the sanctuary. After the opening prayers and hymns, the children are invited to the alter steps for a brief lesson given by the minister or special guest. The children are then dismissed to "Childrens Church". Adult volunteers take children up to 4th grade for singing and activities for the remainder of the hour.

At 11:00 there are Sunday School classes for each age group - through adult.

  • H.I.S. - Hearts in Service

Hearts in Service (HIS) ministry is an extension of pastoral care.. The core of the ministry is contact with shut-ins, nursing home residents, persons who are ill, and persons experiencing the death of a spouse. An intentional process provides for cards, phone calls and visits on a monthly basis.

HIS has an ongoing relationship with Uni-Pres Kindercottage, org a child care facility in East St. Louis. Areas of ministry include care packages to college students, comfort baskets for times of bereavement, welcome baskets for new babies, and assistance with meals and transportation during times of crisis.

  • Women's Fellowship
This organization does have a Board but all women are invited to attend the meetings.  WFB meetings are the first Tuesday of every month.
This group manages our Coffee Hour that is held every Sunday after the worship service. They also organize funeral luncheons when needed.
There is an annual fund raiser, the last few years has been a basket raffle.  The proceeds are used to help fund some of the "extras" for projects not budgeted, and they give monetary donations to several entities in our community like the Food Bank and Oasis Women's Center and Kindercottage.
Ladies Day Out is an event that is put together - just for fun - where we share a catered meal and a program.

Children's Church
Children’s Church is offered every Sunday morning during worship.
Kids (age 3 - grade 5) start in the Sanctuary with Pastor Jerry, then go out to the chapel, cafeteria, gym, or preschool wing for songs, snacks, crafts, and creative Bible lessons.

Younger children are welcome to enjoy our Nursery, with our friendly staff member Nicole Williamson and volunteer helpers!
Youth Ministries
Our weekly youth gatherings are back Sunday, September 11th!
Anyone from the church, school, or community is welcome! These are a great way to share fun times with your friends while also taking part in meaningful discussions about faith and life.
Both Middle and High School groups meet Sundays:
4:00 – 6:00 pm – Middle School Youth
6:00 – 8:00 pm – High School Youth
Both groups are invited to share in a 5:30 pm meal. Parents from both age groups will sign up to provide the meal on a rotating basis. We offer plenty of exciting activities and trips throughout the year, including skiing, Six Flags, Pumpkin Olympics, Lenten Fish Fry, Summer Mission Trip, and many others. Be on the look-out for information in the school’s Wednesday email. The best way to know about all our upcoming activities is to attend on Sundays!

Evangelical UCC
Here at Evangelical, we are part of the
UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST
and a member of the Illinois South Conference.
We have been at the current location in Godfrey since 1968. Prior to that we were located at 8th and Henry in Alton. We began as an Evangelical German denomination, Alton Evangelical Church, founded in 1850 and became Evangelical United Church of Christ in 1968. The founding pastor was Rev. C.E. Zobel from 1850-1851. There have been several pastors throughout the life of the church. Most of them served between 2 and 7 years before moving on to another congregation. However, the Rev. O.W. Heggemeier, served from Dec. 1916 - 1953 - 37 years! An interesting anecdote about Rev. Heggemeier, the following was published in the Alton Telegraph April 20, 1947 ," For the first time in his 30 years as pastor of the Evangelical Church at Eighth and Henry streets, the Rev. O.W. Heggemeier was absent from his pulpit. He was a patient in Alton Memorial Hospital where he had been taken when he collapsed shortly after conducting Easter services and giving communion to 1,000 persons."
In 1968 the Rev. Walter Krebs became the minister and was a leading figure in the creation of the Evangelical School for the Young Years and then Evangelical Elementary School. He was a part of this congregation until 1992, 24 years.
Currently, Pastor Jerry MeCaskey has been leading our congregation since November 2000. The most recent extension of the school and church began in 2001. With increasing classes to accommodate students through the Eighth grade, the Family Ministry Center groundbreaking was in October of 2002.
Today EUCC continues to support the Pre-K through Eighth grades schools and to minister to the communities of Godfrey and Alton.
